Position Purpose:
Assists in the development and implementation of human resources policies and programs for the Distribution Center including employee relations, payroll/compensation and benefits administration, staffing, training and development, and investigations of violations of Company policy in compliance with all laws and regulations. Lead proactively with a passion for Petco, Partners and the values that unite us.

Essential Job Functions:
Through previous background and experience, the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to:

  • Implement and manage HR policies, procedures, and programs related to associate relations.

  • Foster a leadership development and training-centric mentality at all levels of the organization, including coaching of the senior leadership team.

  • Lead benefits communications, enrollment, and resolving related issues.

  • Run compensation related to hourly and exempt-level roles and accurately distribute payroll for the associates.

  • Ensure the building operations and practices are aligned with government laws and regulations.

  • Act as a coach and thought partner with Operational Leadership

  • Ensuring that associate coaching and counseling takes place in accordance with established policies and procedures

  • Partnering with line management to address performance-related issues

  • Developing and maintaining a union avoidance strategy to be used by the management team

  • Working with the management team to develop strategies designed to minimize turnover

  • Coordinates training initiatives as needed

  • Partners to develop and execute a safety strategy to include minimizing injuries and increasing safety awareness

  • Promote a culture of inclusion making partners proud to work for Petco

  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

  • Analyze data to determine the appropriate course of action.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The nature of this position entails supervising Associate(s) involved in recruiting, human resources, payroll and accounting functions at the Distribution Centers.

Work Environment:
Most of the job duties will be performed in an both office environment as well as production environments. Some travel may be required.

Education/Experience:
The minimum educational background of an applicant to this position is a Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years progressively responsible professional level Human Resources experience. Preferably in a Distribution, Warehousing, Logistics, Transportation environments. Diverse operational experience welcome. In addition, a qualified applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and general working knowledge of employment laws/regulations, compensation administration, training and development, benefits, and health and safety. Person bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
