The Senior Technical Writer will develop high-quality and easy-to-use technical documentation for Econolite's products and services. This role will handle multiple concurrent technical writing projects with varying degrees of complexity. The perfect candidate should be able to develop a good functional understanding of hardware and software operations for Econolite's products, work closely with local and remote engineering teams, and apply a comprehensive array of concepts, practices, and procedures to produce accurate and easy-to-understand technical documentation.

This role will work directly with engineering teams, product managers, project managers, and field engineers to understand and document complex hardware and software applications and produce clear and easy-to-follow user manuals, online help, and release notes for a diverse audience.

DUTIES

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Product Development/Engineering, and Marketing to understand product documentation requirements, and plan and execute the development of high-quality online and printed user content
  • Prepare and update software manuals, online help, technical papers, quick-start guides, installation guides, engineering release notes, etc. in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain technical documentation repositories
  • Develop a strong functional understanding of and hands-on experience with Econolite's products by attending trainings and engineering/product development meetings
  • Plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to publish documents in various output formats according to project deadlines
  • Use tools like Adobe FrameMaker (with conditional text), Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat to create and update technical documentation for multiple products

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, or equivalent job experience
  • At least five (5) years of prior experience with technical writing, preferably with a Technical background
  • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation rules, sentence structure, and style conventions for published materials
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications and extensive experience with documentation tools like Adobe FrameMaker (with conditional text), Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent is desired.
  • Ability to quickly learn software and hardware product functions to become a hands-on product user, and make technical concepts and operations easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Experience in working with software/hardware engineering teams; familiarity with engineering processes strongly preferred

PRE-EMPLOYMENT

COMPENSATION

The base pay range for this full-time exempt position is $81,000- $95,000 annually plus benefits. Pay ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay rates for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
