This is a full time position with day shifts, generally Monday through Friday with weekend availability when there are reviews and audits necessary. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

The Medication History Technician will join the elite team at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

* Works under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and works in conjunction with the Medication Safety Officer and pharmacy department leadership team to support the performance and process improvement activities of the hospital medication safety program.

* Assists with the collection and compilation of medication safety data and data related to the operation of medication processes.

* Monitors and audits medication processes.

* Assists with implementation and the associated education and training related to changes in medication processes designed to improve safety.

* Performs other medication safety support functions.

* Maintains confidentiality of patient, staff, department and hospital information.

* Participates in continuous quality improvement.

* Performs other related administrative support functions as assigned.

* Responsible for performing basic pharmacy technician duties.

* Works under the supervision of registered pharmacists.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

* High school diploma or equivalent.


Required Certification/Registration:

* California Pharmacy Technician License.

* Certification by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) within 6 months of hire.


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

* Minimum of five years hospital inpatient pharmacy technician experience preferred.

* Minimum skills in word processing and spreadsheet software; ability to use other online software to support data analysis by the Medication Safety Officer.
