Job Description

Job Summary

The R&D Algorithm Engineer will be part of the R&D team at Masimo working on creating new non-invasive measurements, enabling measurement technologies to be applied to new applications, and facilitating the design and creation of next-generation medical devices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for algorithm design, development, implementation, testing, and documentation for Biomedical Signal Processing systems.
  • Develop new advanced signal processing algorithms using digital signal processing, machine learning techniques, optimization, and numerical modeling in Matlab, Python, or similar software.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in the R&D group, including hardware and software engineers.
  • Design clinical studies to collect physiological data from human subjects and perform data collection and analysis of physiological data.
  • Carry out statistical analysis of clinical data.
  • Develop algorithms for photometric processing of physiological parameters.
  • Implement physiological parameter measurement algorithms on embedded systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2+ years of experience in statistical signal processing, optimization methods, and numerical modeling.
  • Algorithm development experience using machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, etc.,
  • Expertise in data analysis and data mining.
  • Strong programming skills with MATLAB/Python/C/C++ and exposure to software engineering methods.
  • Familiarity with DSP architecture and embedded systems.
  • Exposure to DSP Programming.
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding human physiology and exposure to designing clinical protocols are preferred.
  • Prior experience in the application of signal processing techniques and machine learning tools to bio-medical signals is a plus.
  • Familiarity using deep learning techniques using neural networks is a plus.

Education: M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field required.

Compensation: The anticipated range for this position is $125,000 to $145,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver's license is required.
